Mother Rejects Cancer Treatment in Order to Save Unborn Baby

What would you do if you were given the choice to terminate a pregnancy in order to receive treatment for melanoma that has spread throughout your body? Kathy Taylor, a heroic mother, was faced with that same question.  Ms. Taylor learned that the melanoma that she had once thought was gone had come back in a more aggressive manner and spread throughout her entire body while she was pregnant.

Ms. Taylor held out the pregnancy as long as possible.  Her liver began to fail, causing her to give birth to her newborn baby boy, weighing 1 pound, 15 ounces.  Ms. Taylor began to recover and was given a year to live, rather than the 24-36 hours originally believed.  Although her newborn baby later passed from an onset of an infection, Ms. Taylor sees him as her guardian angel.

Here at the Law Office of Keith Short we understand that hurt can be real.  I share this story to show that we understand that family comes first and the wellbeing of the children is important to us.  If you are going through an emotional, difficult, or troubling divorce, custody battle, or other family law matter, call us today and let us help you through it.
