That’s incredible! How the “truth” can cost you your case. / ¡Eso es increíble! Cómo la “verdad” puede costar su caso.

The truth is important. We constantly tell our clients to stick to the truth! The problem is that sometimes clients tell us stories they swear are true even though the stories seem incredible. I don’t mean amazing; I mean incredible…as in not credible…as in not true. Example: if you miss therapy appointment(s) because your car broke down and then miss the next appointment because you were bitten by a gopher and the next one because your landlord locked you out, or your great aunt died…or whatever, you will be seen as dishonest or “incredible.” Remember this: the truth matters, but so does the appearance of truth! If you are constantly having to explain or make excuses for your conduct then you will likely lose your case. Go to your appointments. Show up for meetings. Go to work and work as hard as you can within your restrictions. Don’t have to make excuses. It’s just that simple.
