Unpaid bonus? / ¿Bono no pagado?
Do you work for an employer who promises bonuses but fails to honor them? In Illinois, the Illinois Wage Payment and Collection Act protects people like you. You (and your fellow employees) may be entitled to collect not only your unpaid bonus but interest owed on that bonus.
Typically, performance bonuses or bonuses based on length of employment are enforceable against an employer. Additionally, recruitment bonuses (where you help bring in new-hires) are enforceable.
Discretionary, or gratuitous bonuses are typically not enforceable.
